In Jesus Is True Joy!

My Testimony

Hi, I want to share about a few events from my past that you may find useful.

As a teenager, I began experimenting with life, with doing things my way rather than how my parents taught me.  At fifteen, I began smoking cigarettes, and then experimenting with alcohol at sixteen. By the time I was eighteen I was using marijuana, and a year later, I was using heavier drugs, mostly LSD and cocaine, but I had experimented with others as well. I was also becoming sexually active and had developed an addiction to pornography.

I was living life as I chose, but the longer I continued down the path of living only for self, the emptier I became. Finally, I reached a point where I just didn’t care whether I lived or died. I was not suicidal; I just had no wish to go on any longer.

It was at that time that a caring person explained some things to me. They said that God calls the things I was doing sin. They said that we are all separated from God because God is holy, and cannot tolerate sin.  They said that Jesus died to take away my sins, that He died in my place, and then rose from the dead, giving the free gift of eternal life..

And then they asked if I would turn away from my sin, confessing them to Jesus, and turn my life over to Him, letting Him be Lord of my life. This all made sense to me.  I said ‘yes!’..

And in that moment, when I decided to turn my life over to Jesus, a miracle happened. In an instant, He cleansed me from my sin and made me a new creature.  Dead in my sins a moment before, now I was alive in Him.  At one moment, not knowing how I could live without my sins, in the very next moment, I could not imagine why I would want to continue in that behavior.

Since then, the Lord has been with me, assuring me of my eternal destiny with Him.  If you do not know the Lord, please do not put off any longer a decision to trust Him for your salvation

If you would like to talk, please send me an email.

Thanks, And God bless you!

  1. I am urged to post my personal testimony of backsliding…for others to possibly see their lack of being filled with the Holy Spirit… Blessings in Christ, bruce

All Christians can backslide, if they are not living for the Lord… I did for 7 years and 2 days after I was saved. My peace and my joy I once had were gone, after I somehow took back control from the Holy Spirit… I believe it was after listening to CH.Spurgeon’s preaching on “Grieving the Holy Spirit”, that I finally got down on my knees and prayed to the Lord that I wanted to start living for Him again…

My God given peace and a joy that only living for Christ will bring into your life (John 15:11…&…Colossians 1:11), flooded back into my heart, mind and soul… The Holy Spirit was sitting back waiting for me to give Him back the control of my life !!I

It is a combination of wearing God’s WHOLE set of armor (Ephesians 6:10-20), and total submission to the Lord (James 4:7-8) that will keep the Christian who keeps a short leash on committed sins by praying 1 John 1:9, EVERY time they find themselves sinning…

Walking with the Lord as a Spirit filled Christian (Ephesians 5:18-20) is sweet fellowship that will be broken by unconfessed sin. We must listen and understand what the writer of Hebrews 12:4-11 tells us about God’s discipline…and hopefully regain the peaceable fruit of righteousness that will be obtained by those trained by God’s chastising…

Hebrews 4:11… Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. (NKJV)

Hope this helps someone who has fear, or anxiety, or doubts about their salvation, as Satan will use his bag of tricks to pull the Christian down. The power of the Holy Spirit will quench Satan’s attempts every time we step back and allow Him to take TOTAL charge of our lives !!

The Apostle John tells us this, in…1John 4:18… There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (NKJV) Torment comes from Satan…and The Lord’s perfect love “casts out fear” as we allow His power to fight our battles…

May these words bring praise and glory to the King of kings and the Lord of lords !!

    Blessings in Christ, bruce

    • As I look back on my life in Christ, I see a long line of acts of love so incredible, I can not even comprehend them. I can only fall to my knees in worship and thanksgiving.
