Worship The Lord Jesus

In Jesus Is True Joy!

Pastor Mike hits the nail on the head. This is something I have been feeling for awhile now, and it is only getting stronger. I hope you will read Mike’s post and take it to heart.

Pastor Mike Says

Last night I watched the movie, The ten Commandments. Many people consider this to be an Easter tradition. I loved that movie and I used to enjoy sitting around Easter Day watching many more of the classic movies about Jesus but today I have noticed a huge emptiness as void as Jesus’ tomb itself. The it hit me, Jesus has disappeared from Easter.

When I was growing up in the late 60’s and throughout the70’s, you saw the word Jesus as often as you saw the word Easter, but not anymore. As I’m sitting here typing this blog, I have the TV on for background noise and I hear the word Easter a lot, but not one mention of Jesus. I have searched the TV guide to see when I will watch the next movie about the life of Jesus, but there are none to be found. I feel like…

  2. Hi Anne, (replying to your comment above, because WordPress only allows for two levels of reply)

Absolutely! While it is true that we are forgiven and holy in the sight if the Lord, we are not to use our freedom found in god as license to sin. The passage yo you cite from 2 Timothy is a perfect example of God’s desire for His children. We are to be perfect, as our Father in heaven is perfect. I wonder how many Christians aren’t even aware that passages like 2 Tim 2:19-22 are part of their Bibles?

Another important aspect is that we are to be separate from the world. I was reading in Exodus this morning and read Ex 34:10-16 where God admonishes Israel to make no covenant with the inhabitants of the land because this would cause them to “go whoring after other gods”. The application for us is crystal clear in my mind, we are to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness (Eph 5:11) for just the same reason.

(hmmm, I am detecting another blog theme emerging, but I have to cut this short, I just got to work a few minutes ago and have to start my day here.)

    God bless,

  3. Hi John, what many forget is that Jesus told His deciples to wait for Pentecost before they went and shared the Gospel, why because they needed His empowering, remember what happened after Jesus was crusified they all departed and went their own ways but were brought together at Pentecost and with Power. No one had to tell them to witness or to pray, or to meet together everyday to break bread and worship the Lord, or to go to the Temple everyday to hear the Scriptuers read, thay wanted to, their hearts were on fire for The Lord they Loved Him and His People, Wow it was Not you have to it was they wanted to they were passionate about The Lord they Loved Him 100%…..

What has happened… today the Gospel has been watered down there is no real Love, Church goers including Ministers think they are above those they minister to and only they know the truth because they have studied and have quilifications, but what did Jesus say ….

John 5: 37 -44 And the Father Himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His shape. And ye have not His word abiding in you: for whom He hath sent, Him ye believe not. Ye Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. I receive not honour from men. But I know you, that ye have not the Love of God in you. I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

John, God tells us who He chooses to share His Truth, those who others think are foolish, not those who Trust in their own fleshy understanding or others and who have no real Love and sadly those who follow them are the same.

1 CORINTHIANS 1 :26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Christian Love and Blessings from both of us – Anne

    • Thank you Anne! I always find such wisdom in your comments. You’re absolutely right, it is God that chooses His vessels, and not the other way around. We are not qualified to be His vessel because of our great book knowledge, but by the filling of His great Spirit.

I have been aware of the weakness of today’s church as compared to the early church for some time. I’ve asked why the church today is such a timid body. we seem unwilling or unable to share our faith with any real power or conviction. A few days ago I decided to write a blog post on the topic and asked the question again, and was immediately given the answer, Pentecost!

We are just like the pre-Pentecost disciples, hiding in an upper room, afraid of the authorities, keeping to themselves and keeping their silence. But, wow, what a change when they were filled with the Spirit on the day of Pentecost! They would not, could not keep silence, but preached with power and even stood against authorities who had the power to imprison them and to cause them bodily harm.

We need that today. I yearn for that today!

      • Dear Brother John, we comend you for your heart attitude, Jesus said ask and you will receive and then believe you have received… one thing more is asked of us which sadly has been watered down with the lie, we will sin till we die and that is ok because we are forgiven, no need to turn from evil and do good , God looks the other way but He tells us….

2 Timothy 2:19-22 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Christian Love from us both – Anne.
