In Jesus Is True Joy!

God, The Great Deliverer

“Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:  And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.”  —  Exodus 6:6-7, KJV

Reading in the book of Exodus this morning I was paying particular attention to the promise that God made to the people of Israel through Moses.  God declares, “I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians”.  Israel was nothing more than slave labor to their Egyptian taskmasters.  They had no choice in their fate at all.  If he Egyptians wanted to work them until they died, then they could do that.

Israel was in bondage to the Egyptians, with no chance of escape and no opportunity to better their station in life.

They were slaves!

In very much the same way, we are, or were, slaves to the world system.  The Bible says:

“Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:”  —  Galatians 4:3, KJV

In other words, we were slaves!  As children, we had no choice in the matter.  Just as the Israelis were born into slavery in Egypt, so we were born into slavery in the world.  Just as the Israelis had no way of rescuing themselves from their predicament, so we had no way of rescuing ourselves from ours.

And, just as the Israelis would never have escaped from Egypt without a God appointed Savior, Moses, so we would never have escaped from our slavery to the world without a Savior, Jesus Christ.

Most people are very uncomfortable about admitting helplessness.  But that is just what we were.  And if God had not taken the initiative in crafting a plan of salvation, we would still be hopelessly and helplessly lost, slaves to the world and slaves to our own sin.

Did you ever notice?  God does things in a big way!  When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He didn’t die for the sins of a few, He died for the sins of every person that would ever live on this planet.  And He not only for our sins that are past, He died for every one of our sins.  Whereas we were guilty before a holy and just god, now we are every bit clean and holy.  Sin is no longer a matter that requires our attention.  As Jesus said, “It is finished!”

As believers who have been washed in the blood of Jesus, we can rejoice in our new-found freedom from the bondage of sin and the world.

  2. Thank you Jesus for these words. I have no excuse if I fail to follow your footsteps. The ball is in my court.

Thank you very much John, for blessing my heart with this wonderful post–post of deliverance. God bless you.

    • Hi Noel, thanks for stopping by for a visit.

You’re right, the ball is in our court. But thank God we don’t go it alone. Without the power and presence of the Holy Spirit we would never be able to live he Christian life. I need to constantly remind myself that:

“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”. 2 Peter 1:3

  4. Hi Anne,

There were two replies that seemed to be nearly identical to the one above. I have moved them to trash but not deleted them. Let me know if there is anything in them I should be aware of.

Thank you so much for your reply, which I have read, and for the link, which I have read partially. I will continue with the link when I am at home rather than at work and have more time to devote to it.

  5. Thank you John for your message and very True when we know the Truth of the Freedom in Christ Jesus that we have been given, there is no condemnation for us, we have been set free from the slavery of the flesh and the fear that we will slip up and loose our free gift of Salvation in Him which is impossible if we are Born again of God’s seed, how can God be anything but God. When we are Perfected in Love as shown in our Righteousness I John 3:1-11 we will always reflect God’s Light. We need to be careful though not to confuse weaknesses and shortcommings and being tempted as sin… Satan likes to condem.

Colossians 3:4-6 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.

Romans 6:21-23 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto Holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

1 John 4:17-19 Herein is our Love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in Love; but perfect Love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in Love. We Love Him, because He first Loved us.

    Christian Love Anne.

    • Our Lord is so far beyond incredible, there are not even words to describe Him. I can only agree with David, where he says in Ps. 139:6, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.”

I am firmly convinced that the more we know about God, the more we realize how little we really know.

      • Hi John, there is a few Scriptures that talk to my heart about knowing the things of God but the ones that opened my eyes are below, yet how many times did I read them without understanding, many times, it was not till I asked God for His wisdom with all my heart and received it that my eyes were opened, I will leave you a link about this also. We will know what is needed

1 Corinthians 2:9-16 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that Love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with Spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are Spiritually discerned. But he that is Spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the Mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him? but we have the Mind of Christ.

John 15:14-15 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.(KJV)

Matthew 10:26-28 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops (KJV)
