In Jesus Is True Joy!

Are We Fans Or Followers Of Christ

I am reading the book, “Not A Fan: Becoming A Completely Committed Follower Of Jesus”, by Kyle Idleman.

The first section of the book is devoted to distinguishing between the fans and followers of Christ.

Fans tend to want Jesus as part of their lives, but only to the extent that they are not too inconvenienced by His presence.  For example, fans want what Jesus offers, as long as they don’t have to give more financially than they are comfortable with.  Fans want Jesus, but are not willing to give up that favorite sin, whether that sin be drinking or drugs, sexual immorality, lying, coveting, etc.  Fans want Jesus, Continue reading

God, The Great Deliverer

“Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:  And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.”  —  Exodus 6:6-7, KJV

Reading in the book of Exodus this morning I was paying particular attention to the promise that God made to the people of Israel through Moses.  God declares, “I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians”.  Israel was nothing more than slave labor to their Egyptian taskmasters.  They had no choice in their fate at all.  If he Egyptians wanted to work them until they died, then they could do that.

Israel was in bondage to the Egyptians, with no chance of escape and no opportunity to better their station in life. Continue reading

Take My Life

Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice and let me sing
Always, only for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.
Take my silver and my gold
Not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
Every power as You choose.

Here am I, all of me.
Take my life, it’s all for Thee.

Take my will and make it Thine
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is Thine own
It shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord I pour
At Your feet it’s treasure store
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.

Here am I, all of me.
Take my life, it’s all for Thee.

Here am I, all of me.
Take my life, it’s all for Thee.

We Are All “Broken Ones”

I was introduced to a wonderful music video by “The Tally Trio” this weekend called “The Broken Ones”.

But, who are the broken ones?  The seventeen year old girl in the video who has been beaten by her boyfriend, or perhaps by her father, and needle tracks up and down her arm is pretty obvious, but what of the immoral person, or the man who is embezzling from his company?  For that matter, what of the man who struggles with impure thoughts?  Or the person who has raised the pursuit of food to the point of near idolatry?  Are these not all broken ones too?

Yes, indeed.  In fact, until Jesus reached out to each of us and purchased us with His own blood, until He began His work of polishing us “diamonds in the rough” to a sparkling luster, we were all broken ones.

And now, Jesus has charged each of us to go into the world and find the broken ones, the lost and the confused, and to point them to Jesus.

I have thought a lot recently about the image of God shining through me.  In fact my two earlier posts have been re-blogs that deal with this very issue.

I love the line in the song, “She’s just doing what the One who died for her would do; Love the broken ones.”

I know that this is what the Lord has called me to do.  Has He perhaps called you to do the same?

Does my life reflect Jesus, the Light of the World? Would that blind girl have asked me, “Are you Jesus?”

I have only one question: Does God show through in my life?

Our God Is So Big

A little girl after being in Church with her Family looked upset, her Mother asked her what was wrong,  the little girl said…

“Mommy, it was what our Minister said this morning,  it confused me.Her mother answered,  Why darling did you find it hard to understand? he girl replied, “Well, Minister John said that God is bigger than we are …

Is that true?” “Yes, that’s true,” her  Mother replied.”He also said that God lives inside of us. Is that true too?” “Yes that’s right said her Mother ”

“Well,”  the little girl said, “if God is bigger than us and He lives inside of us, wouldn’t He show through?”

We allow the Holy Spirit to put to death our evil flesh by choosing to walk in Love…  ( 1 Corinthians 13 & Galatians 5:22-25 ) while  being  empowered by Him to do so,

Lets sing…
