Revival Is Our Only Hope

Having grown up in a home that was politically active,it is second nature for me to cast a watchful eye towards America’s political landscape and the political, social, and economic problems we now face.

But as bad as Americas problems may be, or the problems being faced by other nations for that matter, I am thoroughly convinced that answers  are not to be found in the political, social, and economic arenas.  The reason for this conviction is simple.  America’s, or the world’s, woes are spiritual, and offering solutions in these arenas of human endeavor will only add to and extend the problem.

We have strayed far from the principles of our founders, the same principles that are found in our Bible.  If we ever expect to turn our nation onto a path of prosperity and liberty, we must first turn our hearts and minds back to the loving Father in heaven that blessed this nation at its founding.

In Deuteronomy 6 and Leviticus 18 and again by Jesus in the new Testament, we are exhorted to love the Lord our God with all out heart, soul , and might, and our neighbor as ourselves.

Our founding fathers knew that our nation could never be sustained as it was constituted except by a religious and God-fearing people.

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.  —  John Adams

Look around, we are seeing the truth of that assertion today in that our Government no longer governs righteously, and is falling apart in front of our eyes.

Some, I am sure, will read these words and scoff.  But it is those who scoff at the precepts of our Holy and Just God who are the very problem we face.

Others will read these words and understand the truth that underlies them.  It is to you my Brothers and Sisters that this post is written.  We, not individually, but as a people, have abandoned our Lord and His righteousness.  We seek to solve our nations ills by applying solutions born of human effort, solutions that not only exacerbate our problems but that are the problem!

What our nation needs is for God’s people to get on their knees and pray!  Pray that we would be true to God’s calling for our lives, pray for our nation and our leaders, that they would be open to the leading of God’s Holy Spirit, and most of all, pray for national revival!

Our only hope is a nation turning away from sin and unrighteousness and turning to God for salvation and for answers.

So long as we continue as we have been, we will find our situation only worsening, politically, socially, and economically.  We will find our liberties eroding, and the Government’s grip on our lives ever tightening.

Won’t you join me in prayer?  Please, before it is too late!

  1. Amen! We absolutely agree! We are praying for the Kingdom to be superimposed on the earth, and without a huge return to God we won’t be able to make a change. I know He has a plan to bring us to a place of earnest prayer.

Thank you for your words and may God bless you abundantly for your courage, faith and compassion!

    1. Hi,

Thanks for stopping by and for your warm remarks. I really appreciate them.

Yes, I completely agree that revival is needed and that God will bring us to a place of prayer.

May the Lord bless all that you do,

  2. Agreed. But whereas the floodgates are open in the places you mention, at least in the west there is still a small trickle. It seems Satan’s grip is tightening on the west, and yet, I know he is making a serious error. In the non-spiritual realm, people experience Satan’s tightening grip as an increasing oppression of he people, by their peers, by their governments, or whatever. And what do an oppressed people invariably do? Yes, they cry out to God!

I’ve no idea when it will occur, but I’m guessing there will be a wave of evangelistic effort in the west that will be fruitful, unless of course, the Lord returns first, which is another possibility, a very real one, I think.

  3. Yes John the openness to the gospel is not coming from the western world , its more from the third world countries. Places like Sth Korea, many parts of Africa ,Sth America; faster rise in Muslim faith in Europe and many other places ,sadly.

  4. That goes for us all ,as Australians the situation is similar ,people governing from a godless perspective we had an organised call to prayer at Canberra ,but the media is not highlighting anything like that.. keep up the good work John ,will pray for you.

    1. As the world becomes more and more secularized, it seems that evangelism is becoming more difficult. Yet, from missionary reports, I hear that in some countries there seems to be a unique openness to the Gospel.

I often wonder, can it be that we are nearing the end of the harvest?

I’ll be praying for you and Ann as well.
